Repost, feature, shout out, and the list goes on. It’s so hard not to feel wrapped up in the rat race!
Have you ever felt that way?
Here’s what I know that I know. There are SO MANY opportunities out there. You have endless potential with where you want to go with your career…BUT, and it’s a big but, you have to be smart about it.
I want to ask you a question, and I want you to be completely honest with yourself about it, k?
Are you putting yourself out there in a way that gains you more business? Or are you just focused on getting reposted?
If it’s the second, THAT’S OK! But I think we should maybe talk about it for a minute.
I want you to be building a career that is sustainable, one that pays your bills, gives you freedom with your family, and can open up the doors of opportunity. Part of that sustainability is having a steady income.
If you are not focusing your efforts on building a steady income stream behind the chair, my fear for you is that you will burn out before you even get there.
How amazing would it be if you were fully booked weeks out and felt like your income was dependable? THAT would be the perfect time to start maybe branching your content out to reach companies and feature pages. That would be a perfect pivoting point.
So, how can you put yourself out there in a way that gains you more business? I’m so glad you asked.
Here are 3 simple ideas you can start with today!
1. Start talking directly to your clients on your posts.
Your clients might get super confused on the letters and numbers of colors you used.
But they would love to hear what technique you did, so they can maybe ask you about it next time.
2. Start using posts to educate your clients.
Talk to them about a new product, something you are loving, or a treatment that you offer!
Align yourself as an expert and prove how knowledgeable you are even when your guests aren’t in the salon.
3. Instead of sharing what availability you have this week, start sharing why someone wants to be in your chair.
Tell them why they need to get their booties in there!
Highlight an awesome technique that you rock at and why it would be awesome just for “this” certain hair type.
Talk about the approaching season and why “this” look is so perfect for it.
Now, don’t hear me saying that in the meantime, we won’t be cheering and throwing confetti if you get featured, or a brand reaches out. But, if you are aiming your focus directly at those motives, you are missing a HUGE opportunity in using Instagram to get clients in your chair.
Our clients really don’t understand what a big deal some of these feature pages are to us, but they DO understand that they want to go to someone who uses Instagram to show off their amazing skills.
Why not let them know that you are talking directly to them? That they are your top priority!
This method of talking directly to my clients through Instagram is how I completely supercharged what my books looked like when I moved to Florida. And, I want that for you!!!!
